Regional programmes
A network of complementary regional research progrmmes is essential for effective implementation of IMBeR. Currently, IMBeR has four regional programmes: CLIOTOP, ESSAS, ICED and SIBER. Regional programmes play an important role in furthering the science goals of IMBER. Through comparison of diverse ecosystems, new understanding will emerge about the potential effect of climate and human-induced changes on biogeochemical cycling and food web dynamics and the societies that impacted by the changes.
Regional programmes are encouraged to develop implementation plans that facilitate collaboration and communication between individual and national projects.
